Canate The village of medieval origin, dating from the twelfth century and is situated at an altitude between 537 and 555 meters above sea level, on southern slope of Mount Lake
The first building of the borough most likely occurred at the crossroads between the main roads that reach the country at an altitude of 545 meters above sea level here has been built one of the most beautiful houses in the entire country, with a roof four pitches, string courses and window blinds.
What immediately jumps to the eyes Canate is coming to the types of houses, that compared to other similar small groups, have features that are not really typical of farm houses or otherwise "poor".
Many of the buildings have in fact little balconies with beautiful wrought iron railings, exterior stairs and steps covered in slate, string course, cantonal and so on. The covers are almost all two layers with a few exceptions of some houses with pitched roof with four, all completed with brick tiles tipo marsigliesi.
Almost all the houses Canate had a ground floor, sometimes leaning to one side to a wall bracket and is intended to shed or cellar and one or more upper floors for housing , the latter were connected by an internal staircase.
The kitchen was located immediately above the stable floor or basement, while the bedrooms were located on the upper floors of the house, from what you can still see today the kitchens were equipped with a sink in Genoese marble, with runfò a legna per la cottura dei cibi.
